Camp Maranatha

Campestre Maranatha is a Christian campground located in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. As the largest camp in the area, it is used by local churches, schools, and families for their different activities in a wholesome atmosphere. It is also the field base in Mexico for Maranatha Ministries in Mexico.

Churches use the campground for youth and children’s camps, adult seminars, spiritual retreats, and fellowship meetings. Maranatha’s swimming pool is not only used for fun and games but also as a place where many new believers are baptized each year. Over the years, this center has played an effective part in promoting unity among the churches by providing a neutral ground for La Paz pastors to hold their monthly meeting for prayer and encouragement. The pastors may also come individually or with their families to have a time of rest and encouragement.

Both public and private schools are welcome to use the camp. For example, schools may bring students to celebrate Día del Niño, or Children’s Day. Sixth grade classes find it an exciting place to celebrate graduation from primary school. Youth and special needs children’s organizations have held encampments and family events at Maranatha. Large church or community groups sometimes fill sleeping facilities and pitch tents in every available area as well.

Campestre Maranatha promotes family values as a location for wholesome birthday parties, reunions, and albercadas, or swimming parties. For Christian couples it provides a romantic wedding venue. Families at times host a Quinceañera, the Latina coming of age celebration for girls at age fifteen, at Campestre Maranatha.

Our parent organization, Maranatha Ministries in Mexico, bases its field operations at Campestre Maranatha. Here plans are made, teaching materials are ordered, and volunteers recruited for mission projects and planned events. As camp hosts, it is a delight for us to facilitate all the wonderful activities and enjoy the spiritual blessings received by the groups who use the camp.
